Blue Jays, Phillies rematch ends in a tie

DUNEDIN, Fla. - Following a 5-3 win in Clearwater on Tuesday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays opened the home portion of their Grapefruit League schedule in Dunedin looking to win back to back games over the Philadelphia Phillies.

RA Dickey made his Spring debut for the Jays. In the top of the second, he gave up an RBI single to Cameron Rupp to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. Dickey gave up two hits, one earned run, and struck out one in two innings of work.

Aaron Sanchez came into the game in relief of Dickey. He surrendered three hits, and a solo homerun to Aaron Altherr in the top of the fourth which made it 2-0 Phillies.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Blue Jay bats would come alive as Ryan Goins hit a triple to score Junior Lake and David Adams to tie it up 2-2. Domonic Brown would later score Goins on an RBI single to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.

In the top of the seventh, Peter Bourjos hit an RBI triple to tie the game at 3. David Aardsma was pitching for the Blue Jays at this point.

Moving along to the top of the ninth as Andrew Knapp hit an RBI double off of Ben Rowen to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead. The Jays would tie the game in the ninth as Dwight Smith would score on a wild pitch. They were unable to win the game however, and both managers opted to end the game in a tie.

NOTES
- Josh Donaldson made his Spring Training debut going 1 for 1.
- The Blue Jays have begun preliminary contract negotiations with Edwin Encarnacion
- The Jays play the Pittsburgh Pirates (0-1) Thursday afternoon at 1:05pm EST.
